Thai night at Kerstin and Marcelo's

July has been an amazingly rainy month for Berlin. The crappy weather conditions ruined our weekend plans; as a result Super Raton (ie Marcelo in Orange Cape) saved the day. Marcelo and Kerstin decided to host a Thai night at their house. When you mix a whole bunch of crazy people, cooped up indoors for too long, plus some good homemade Thai grub along with beer, sekt and wine (two parts spilled for every one part consumed) ... the result is the photo collage above.

Computer Geek!!!

It is amazing, how people change…
Some years ago, there was no chance that I would spend more than an hour in front of a computer .... doing only what was absolutely necessary, such a stuff for school or work.
Some month’s ago I started to discover the huge amount of things that I can do. Even though I had zero knowledge about computers, after some hours of “hard work” I was able to do most of the things by my self. Marcelo first made a Blog, then Chris did his and obviously I wanted to have one too. I wanted to demonstrate to the boys that I too could make a blog (without asking for their help). As you can see, the Blog is working.

The next step towards my computer geek-dom was when Chris showed me how to play one of his favorites computer games called StarCraft . In the beginning I thought there is no way I could learn how to play it, but after a couple of days I got the hang of it and dare I say, started to enjoy it. We played the game until 5am this morning ... made an alliance at the beginning of the game and play against 4 other people. WOW that was great … I loved it!!!!

Yesterday Chris and I went for dinner with Marcelo and he told us that he had his own web page. When we got home, Chris and I both created our own pages. Mine had Sanrio stuff on it, you know, Hello Kitty's friend. I did it using the webpage wizard and a template ... it was awful. Today I spent lots of hours working on it ... this time without the wizard and
here is the result!

The point is that now I just enjoy working on my computer. I really do! Generally I work at Chris’s house so he helps me and explains all the things that I have trouble with. So between my engineer boyfriend and my engineer friend and all their ideas, my metamorphosis from the 'Outdoor Girl' to a 'Cyber Savvy Babe' is almost complete.

Excellent Weekend!!!

On Friday I had a very nice dinner party with Genevieve, Anna and Baris!!
Baris cooked and we also smoked Shisha because he bought a new one on the afternoon. It was great, we went to bed at 5:30!!!
On Saturday night we went to The Irish Pub and had dinner and some beers there, Marcelo, Kerstin and I finally met Alper’s Girlfriend who was on Berlin with her sister. Really nice evening!!!
On Sunday Kerstin, Marcelo and I got together for brunch in Kolvitz Platz, then went to visit the New Synagogue where I got in trouble for taking pictures, saw an excellent art exhibition about drawings and paintings made in Auschwitz and finally went to the movies and saw wedding crashers. It was a really nice and very complete weekend!!!

U2's Concert!!!

07-07-05

The concert!!!

Amazing!!!
The show was great, the songs were perfect, but best of all was the message: “Don’t give up! Keep on trying! We can do something for this world!” When you are there, listening to Bono’s powerful words you realize its true, we CAN do something. Even on a day like yesterday, after the tragedy in London, you walk out of the concert with hope!

The Germans!!!

These people were amazing too … but in a very different way! Getting into the concert was hassle free. Our tickets were general admission, which means we were level with the stage, which in my country means that you know you’re going to get pushed around, people are going to sweat on you, jump all together and feel the band’s music as much as you can.
But in Germany it’s a little bit different: They find a place standing and refuse to move. Almost no one jumps, very few people sing the songs with the band (and we’re not talking about just any band, this was U2). Their only sign of enthusiasm was in between the opening acts and U2; doing the wave so many times it started to be tedious! There were a couple of guys trying to push their way throw the crowd and these crazy people called security and had them kicked out of the concert!!! …just for trying to get a better view of the band!!! That was INCREDIBLE.
On numerous occasions I was bitched at for being to close to other people. If you want a special place just for you, get your whiney little ass into the seated section.
Germans and their stupid rules… even when having fun they live by them!

LIVE 8

Live 8!!!
The most Amazing concert I’ve ever been to!! Not only because of the great bands that we saw on-stage (Green Day, Audioslave, Silbermond, Beach Boys, A-ha,faithless), but also because of the meaning of the concert. It was absolutely great to be part of such a big event with such an amazing cause!!!
The concert was huge… about 150.000 people in one of the most important streets in Berlin, which connects the Angel with the Brandenburger Gate and many other people hearing it from Tiergarten Park!We were simultaneously watching the concert in London on big screens on the street. There were also concerts in Philadelphia, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Moscow, Toronto and Johannesburg!!!
